ABOUT us

At Rooted & Becoming, we believe in honoring the life you’ve already lived while making space for what matters to you now.

Meet Heather

Hi, I’m Heather Pierce!

Founder & Coach, Rooted & Becoming.

People and their stories genuinely interest me, especially what matters to them and the parts of themselves that may be asking for more attention. I believe people make sense in the context of their lives, and I’m much more interested in understanding something than judging it as good or bad.

I’m also living with many of the questions Rooted & Becoming is built around. I don’t approach this work as someone who has midlife figured out. I’m in it too.

I value honesty, humor, and talking about complicated things without making everything feel heavy. I think we can take ourselves and our lives seriously without having to take ourselves seriously all the time.

Why I Created Rooted & Becoming

I grew up with cultural messages that aging, especially for women, was something to dread. There was this idea that as women got older, they became less attractive, less relevant, less capable, or somehow less valuable. That story never really resonated with me.

As aging became more personal, some of those messages started creeping into my own thoughts. I didn’t want that story to become my story. I also didn’t want forced positivity that said aging was wonderful and every change should be embraced.

I wanted something more honest and expansive. A way to acknowledge the real challenges, losses, and changes that can come with midlife without reducing this stage of life to decline.

Sometimes it's not about adding another healthy habit. Sometimes it means being honest about what isn't working anymore, recognizing what I no longer have the capacity for, grieving what has changed, or deciding what I'm willing to carry differently.

This stage of life isn’t only about who we’re becoming. It can also be an invitation to listen more closely to who we are now and notice what still fits, what we may be ready to let go of, and what we want to carry differently.

What It’s Like to Work With Me

I’m curious, compassionate, direct, and down-to-earth. I listen closely, ask questions, and truly care about how you see and experience your life.

I’ll support you, but I’m also willing to challenge a pattern, contradiction, or “should” when it shows up.

I may ask the question that makes it a little harder to keep avoiding something you already know.

I’m comfortable with complexity and uncertainty, and I know there isn’t always one right answer. I won’t give you a formula or prescription. We’ll explore what’s true for you and what fits your life right now.

I see coaching as something we practice, not just talk about. We might find something to try between sessions, then look at what happened and what you learned.

My Professional Background

I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and have been practicing since 2013. I’ve worked a lot with body image, disordered eating, anxiety, perfectionism, self-criticism, identity, belonging, and life transitions.

My background in mindfulness, self-compassion, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and values-based work also shapes the way I approach coaching.

More than any single technique, I bring curiosity, compassion, mindfulness, thoughtful questions, and respect for your ability to find your own way forward.

Just a note: Rooted & Becoming is my coaching practice and is separate from the therapy services I offer as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

You can work with me through Rooted & Becoming in two ways.
