GROUP COACHING for midlife

Midlife Unscripted

An 8-Week Rooted & Becoming Coaching Group

There isn’t one right way to do midlife.

Listen more closely to the person you are now, question the scripts that no longer fit, and create more room for what matters to you now.

Is Midlife Unscripted Right for You?

You may have spent years caring for others, meeting expectations, or trying to get things right. Now you may be thinking more about what you want and need in this part of your life.

Maybe you’re questioning expectations you’ve carried for years. Changes in your relationships, work, body, responsibilities, or capacity may also be bringing different questions into focus.

You know the boundary you want to set.

Then guilt shows up when someone is disappointed.

You make a decision and second-guess yourself.

You may find yourself looking to someone else for reassurance.

You understand yourself pretty well.

And still find it difficult to do something differently.

There may not be one particular problem to solve.

You may want more freedom, honesty, or room to live differently.

Midlife Unscripted gives you time to notice the expectations, roles, and scripts you’ve been living by and consider what still fits, what you may be outgrowing, and what you might want to carry differently.

Rooted & Becoming centers the experiences of women while also welcoming nonbinary and gender-expansive people who feel a connection to womanhood, femininity, or the experiences explored in this work. Women of all gender histories are welcome here. You don't need to identify as a woman to know that this space is for you.

You don’t need to have your entire next chapter figured out before you begin.

What You’ll Practice in Midlife Unscripted

Over the eight weeks, you’ll have space to develop a more compassionate relationship with yourself, gain greater clarity about what matters to you now, and strengthen trust in your own voice and choices.

You’ll also have opportunities to put what you’re discovering into practice.

Self-compassion

Respond to yourself with more understanding and less automatic criticism or judgment.

Self-trust

Listen to yourself and make choices without requiring certainty, trusting that you can learn and adjust.

Clarity and connection

Become clearer about what matters to you at this point in your life.

Practice in everyday life

Try boundaries, choices, conversations, requests, and small changes rather than only understanding them intellectually.

Listen to yourself → trust yourself → practice living accordingly.

Meet Heather

Heather Pierce, LMFT:
Founder & Coach, Rooted & Becoming

I’m living many of the questions that Rooted & Becoming is built around. I don’t approach this work as someone who has midlife figured out. I’m in it too.

As a coach, I’m curious, compassionate, direct, and pretty down-to-earth. I listen closely and ask lots of questions.

I may ask the question that makes it a little harder to keep avoiding something you already know.

I also see coaching as something we practice, not just talk about.

I’ve been a therapist since 2013. What I bring into coaching is less about any one technique and more about a way of working: curiosity, compassion, mindfulness, thoughtful questioning, and respect for each person’s ability to find their own way forward.

I don’t see coaching as telling someone what their next chapter should look like. I see it as creating space for people to hear themselves more clearly and begin making choices that reflect what matters to them now.

  • WEEK 1 · ROOTED

    Where Am I Now?

What is true for me right now?

Take stock of life as it is now without rushing to fix or change it. Notice where your energy is going, what has changed, what feels nourishing or draining, and what may be asking for attention.

  • WEEK 2 · ROOTED

    Meeting Yourself With Compassion

Can I meet what I notice with compassion?

Explore what self-compassion can look like in practice, including meeting difficulty with greater kindness, perspective, and awareness.

Explore how you respond to yourself when life is difficult, uncertain, or not going as you think it should.

Notice self-criticism when it shows up and experiment with responding differently.

  • WEEK 3 · RELEASING

    What Am I Carrying?

What have I been carrying, and where did it come from?

Explore the messages, expectations, roles, patterns, and “shoulds” you’ve accumulated over time.

Consider where they came from, how they may have helped or protected you, and what they may have cost.

The focus is recognition rather than immediately letting go.

  • WEEK 4 · RELEASING

    What Still Fits?

What still fits, what am I outgrowing, and what might I want to carry differently?

Something may be kept intentionally, released, carried differently, or remain unresolved for now.

There is room for grief, ambivalence, competing values, limits, changing capacity, and “I don’t know yet.”

Something can be right for you and still be difficult.

  • WEEK 5 · RECONNECTING

    What Matters to Me Now?

    What matters to me now?

Reconnect with what matters in the life you’re actually living at this point.

Explore your values, wants, needs, priorities, interests, strengths, and parts of yourself asking for more attention.

There is room for wanting something without immediately judging whether it is realistic.

  • WEEK 6 · RECONNECTING

    Learning to Trust Yourself

    Can I trust myself?

Explore second-guessing, reassurance-seeking, fear of getting it wrong, perfectionism, and concern about disappointing others.

Self-trust isn’t about always knowing the right answer or feeling completely confident in your decisions. It’s about trusting yourself to listen, choose, learn, respond, and adjust.

You’ll also explore the difference between seeking a useful perspective and outsourcing a decision, and practice consulting yourself before asking others what they think.

  • WEEK 7 · BECOMING

    Putting What Matters Into Practice

How might I begin living what matters to me?

Bring what you’ve been learning into everyday choices and actions.

That may include boundaries, difficult conversations, asking for what you need, making decisions, allowing disappointment, and making room for what matters.

Becoming is practice, not perfect execution.

  • WEEK 8 · BECOMING

    Continuing to Become

What do I want to carry forward from here?

Return to where you began, recognize what has shifted, and consider what you want to continue practicing.

The final week focuses on continuation rather than completion.

The Rooted & Becoming Framework is cyclical. You can return to it as your life continues to change.

What to Expect Each Week

Midlife Unscripted is a small, live virtual coaching group. We’ll meet for 90 minutes each week for eight weeks.

90-minute live sessions

A blend of teaching, guided reflection, coaching, group discussion, and mindfulness or self-compassion practices.

Breakout conversations

Breakout rooms are an important part of the experience and give you opportunities to learn alongside other participants.

Your choices remain your own

You remain in charge of your choices, values, priorities, pace, and how you participate. You won’t be expected to share more than you’re comfortable sharing.

Practice between sessions

Plan for about 20–30 minutes of reflection and practice between meetings.

You’ll be invited to try small experiments, notice what happens, and use what you learn as information rather than measuring success or failure.
